“Voices” of the Great War
The yearbooks of the Alabama Girls’ Technical Institute are filled with the “voices” of the students who called Montevallo their home during the years of the Great War. Below is a selection of songs and poetry written by students who attended A.G.T.I. between 1914 and 1919. These writings memorialize the spirit of the A.G.T.I. students and provide a window through which to examine the experiences of those who lived through the Great War.
